Get to Know Keaton Lane

Q: What gets you most excited/passionate about your job right now? Any examples?

A: Working at VikingCloud has given me the opportunity to help create a strong team from scratch, including all the documentation used, such as training materials and Asgard guides for customers. Having the opportunity to conduct penetration and Wi-Fi penetration testing for our Enterprise clients is a fantastic experience. Lastly, being able to touch every facet of the process, whether that’s working with clients, assisting sales, or conducting testing is a very rewarding experience.

Q: What is the biggest challenge clients are experiencing when you first speak to them?

A: Clients are often confused by the process of penetration testing. Penetration testing can be a sensitive issue for many organizations, and they require frequent communication and support. Fortunately, that’s where I’m able to assist.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to VikingCloud customers, what would it be?

A: Constantly update your systems and don’t ignore those low or medium severity findings. Any hacker of skill with enough time will find a way to exploit those little gaps. I would also advise everyone to stay educated. There are effective ways to keep non-technical employees engaged in cybersecurity without it being their role. Your organization is only as strong as your weakest link so do what you can to make it as difficult as possible for a threat actor to get a foothold in your network.

In Closing

Keaton provides VikingCloud customers with expert consulting regarding their penetration tests, making him key member of our operations. His experience and public service have proven to be a powerful addition to the VikingCloud team. We are honored to have a U.S. Army veteran on the VikingCloud team - thank you for your service, Keaton.
