Based on their key findings, Gartner provides five key areas of cybersecurity predictions and recommended actions:

1.      Security Behavior and Culture Program: By 2026, enterprises combining GenAI with an integrated platforms-based architecture in security behavior and culture programs will experience 40% fewer employee-driven cybersecurity incidents.

2.      Redesigned Application Security: By 2027, 30% of cybersecurity functions will redesign application security to be consumed directly by non-cybersecurity experts and owned by application owners.

3.      Regulatory Pressure and Attack Surface Expansion: By 2027, 45% of CISOs will expand their remit beyond cybersecurity, due to increasing regulatory pressure and attack surface expansion.

4.      Personal Resilience Programming: By 2027, CISOs investing in cybersecurity-specific personal resilience programming will see 50% less burnout-related attrition than peers who don’t.

5.      Personal Legal Exposure: By 2027, two-thirds of global 100 organizations will extend directors and officers (D&O) insurance to cybersecurity leaders due to personal legal exposure.
